On August 23-26, 2022, a delegation of scientists from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by the Director General of the Institute, a member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Sakhiev S.K. visited the Kingdom of Belgium as part of a working trip. The visit was organized jointly with the Walloon Export and Investment Agency (AWEX), the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium.
During the trip, Professor Sakhiev S.K. met with the CEO of JohnCockerill, IBA, the National Institute of Radioelements (IRE), the Belgian Center for Nuclear Research (SCK CEN).
As a result of the meetings, the possibilities of conducting joint research using the experimental base of the INP ME RK were discussed and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the INP ME RK and the Belgian Nuclear Research Center.
Constructive negotiations between Kazakh and Belgian experts in the field of nuclear physics and nuclear medicine opened up the possibility of expanding cooperation in these areas.
