From September 18 to 23, 2022, a member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the youth branch of the PCK, head of the laboratory of the branch "Institute of Atomic Energy" of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan Miniyazov A.Zh. took part in the International Symposium "32nd Symposium on Fusion Technology - SOFT 2022" in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The event is organized by the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI), Croatia's leading scientific institute in the field of natural and biomedical sciences, as well as marine and environmental studies. The biennial Fusion Symposium is the most important fusion conference in Europe, bringing together scientists, engineers, industry and exhibitors from all over the world to highlight the latest developments in fusion experiments and activities. SOFT includes invited, oral and poster presentations, as well as industry and research exhibitions. More than 700 scientists and specialists from different countries took part in the symposium.
Within the framework of the conference, Miniyazov A.Zh. presented a report on the topic "Degradation of the structure and properties of tungsten carbide surface layers under plasma exposure" aimed at research in the field of creating promising structural materials for fusion technology.
The conference allowed the participants to share their vision and the results of scientific research in the development of fusion technologies.
