The Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan (PCK) Secretariat reports that on 24.04.2025 a joint round table meeting was held in a hybrid format in Astana at the «Park Inn by Radisson» hotel on the topic: «Nuclear energy and technologies: a step into the future», organized by the «Nuclear society of Kazakhstan (NCK)» and «The National nuclear society of the Russian Federation».
Kazakhstani scientists were represented by members of the NSK association: including the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NAC Kazatomprom JSC, as well as members of the PCK: B.M. Ibraev, S.K. Sakhiev, M.K. Mukysheva and T.Z. Akhmetov.
The Russian side was represented by members of «The National Nuclear Society of the RF», including the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" and its affiliated organizations, JSC «Research and development institute of power energy named after N.A. Dollezhalya» of the State Corporation «Rosatom», and the National research nuclear university “MEPhI”.
The moderators were: Tazhibayeva Irina - Chair of the Board of the NSK, and Sidorov Evgeny, Executive Director of «The National Nuclear Society of the RF».
As part of the program of the joint Round Table on the topic «Nuclear energy and technologies: a step into the future», participants delivered 23 presentations and engaged in a broad exchange of views on topics of mutual interest (round table program – Annex 1).
Both sides noted the importance of the joint event and emphasized the promising prospects for developing cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
A total of approximately 30 participants took part in the event.
