Conference "Global Demand for Nuclear Energy and the Role of Central Asia"

The Secretariat of the PCK reports that on September 27, 2024, the conference "Global Demand for Nuclear Energy and the Role of Central Asia" took place, bringing together highly qualified representatives of the nuclear industry to discuss the growing global demand for nuclear energy and the opportunities of the region.

The moderator of the conference was a PCK member, Chairman of the NNWI Central Asia Kazakhstan Advisory Council, B.M. Ibraev. The PCK was also represented by M.V. Zdorovets, Director of the branch of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Astana, and S.R. Savelyev, Chief Expert of the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was organized by the New Nuclear Watch Institute (NNWI) Central Asia, an international industry-supported think tank focused on promoting nuclear energy as a means to meet countries' long-term sustainable energy needs.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the role of nuclear energy in ensuring Kazakhstan's energy security, the economic benefits of expanding nuclear capacity, and the broader regional impact of nuclear energy development. The discussion included representatives from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP), the Kazakhstan Association of Power Supply Organizations, Rosatom Central Asia, members of the professional community, independent experts, and others.
