The PCK Secretariat reports that, from September 25 to 29, 2023, the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held in Vienna, Austria. Leaders and representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC, NAC Kazatomprom JSC, Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants LLP, RSE National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, RSE Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mangistau Nuclear Power Plant LLP took part in the conference as part of the Kazakh delegation. Members of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan T.M. Zhantikin, General Director of KNPP LLP, Sakhiev S.K., General Director of the RSE INP, Miniyazov A.Zh., Head of the laboratory of the RSE NNC RK and member of the Youth Branch of the PKC Karashev T.K., Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan also took part.
The conference included thematic sessions, bilateral meetings, a scientific forum and an exhibition at which the Kazakhstan pavilion was presented, reflecting current achievements in the nuclear industry.
As part of the conference, two side events were held with the participation of the Kazakh delegation: “IAEA Low-Enriched Uranium Bank” and “Rehabilitation of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS): 30 years of IAEA support.”
The General Conference annually brings together representatives of more than 177 IAEA member countries and makes a significant contribution to the implementation of international and national programs in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy.
