The Secretariat of the PCK informs that on May 29, 2023 at the Faculty of Chemistry of KazNU al-Farabi, the presentation of the handbook "Emergency Response Guide" (ERG 2020) was held with the participation of Professor Matteo Guidotti, a representative of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and was organized within the framework of the project of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
The event was held in a hybrid format with the active assistance and participation of members of the PCK at KazNAEN: professors M.Burkitbayev, Z.Mansurov, T.Akhmetov, B.Zhaparov and A.Miniyazov (head of the YD of PCK), as well as T.Seifullina (Director of the NSK) and S.Aliyev (ICAT NSK). Well-known chemists, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, health care, RSE "INP" of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan National Center for Scientific Research, Training and Education in the Field of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other interested specialists took part in the work of the seminar and spoke. In general, more than 95 people attended the presentation in a hybrid format, not counting the invited students of KazNU al-Farabi.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Kazakhstan Chemical Society named after B.A. Beremzhanova, professor M.Burkitbaev, emphasizing that:
“... the Handbook clearly defines the algorithms for actions in case of accidents on roads and railways, associated with the release of various harmful substances. Depending on their nature, safety rules, first aid actions and minimizing harm to human health and the environment are described.
Such a reference book is necessary for various services and departments carrying out activities in this direction. Collaboration with foreign scientists and experts expands international cooperation between the university and Kazakhstani science in the field of chemical, biological and radiation safety, opens up new opportunities for participation in IUPAC projects”.
The head of the IUPAC ERG project, Professor Matteo Guidotti, in his speech noted that this Guide (ERG) is published every four years in English, French, Spanish and thanked the representatives of KazNU al-Farabi for preparing the Russian version.
At the end of the presentation, the organizers of the event distributed the "Emergency Response Guide" in hardcover to representatives of relevant departments and interested institutions who were present at the presentation, and it will also be received by scientific organizations and representatives of the chemical community. The manual can be downloaded from the IUPAC website.
The presentation aroused wide interest among all the participants of the event.
