30 years of Kazakh - Japanese scientific and technical cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy

The PCK Secretariat reports that from June 4 to June 7, 2024, the International Scientific and Technical Seminar “30 Years of Kazakh-Japanese Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy” was held in Kurchatov at the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RGP NNC RK) with the participation of the General Director of the RSE NNC RK, Deputy Chairman of the PCK Batyrbekov E.G., President of the Atomic Energy Agency of Japan Dr. Koguchi M., managers and specialists of the organizations Marubeni Utility Services, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, Japan Atomic Power company, Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. and etc.

The event was attended by leading scientists and specialists from organizations in the nuclear industry and science, members of the PCK at KazNANS.

    

The purpose of the seminar is to summarize the results of 30 years of cooperation between the RSE NNC RK and Japanese organizations, to discuss prospects and directions for further cooperation.

The seminar participants received greetings from the Akim of the region Abai N. Urankhaev, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Satkaliev, the President of the Association "NSK", the Chairman of the PCK at KazNANS, Professor V. Shkolnik, the Ambassador of Japan to Kazakhstan D. Yamada.

Over the years, large-scale projects COTELS, EAGLE, Fukushima Debris, CORMIT and many others have been implemented, which have become a significant contribution to solving nuclear energy safety issues.
