Webinar "Communication, ethics and the future of scientific cooperation"

On October 20, 2022, at the invitation of the Youth Branch of the Russian Pugwash Committee, the Chairman of the Youth Branch of the PCK, Miniyazov A.Zh. took part in a webinar on the topic "Communication, ethics and the future of scientific cooperation", which was held at the Institute of International Studies of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The webinar was moderated by Samoilovskaya N.A., junior researcher at the Institute of International Studies at MGIMO, Chairman and member of the committee of the RPK Youth Branch, member of the International Student/Youth Pugwash.

The event was opened by Ginzburg A.S., Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Pugwash Committee at the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Ginzburg A.S. pointed to the active role of scientists in discussing the catastrophic consequences of nuclear war.

In his speech, Miniyazov A.Zh. noted the consistent policy of Kazakhstan towards the peaceful atom since the renunciation of nuclear weapons and its unique role in the process of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation at the interstate level and the role of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, which brought together leading scientists and specialists of the country who are not indifferent to the security of our future.

In accordance with the agenda, the Fellow of the IAEA Maria Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program Rodina I.V., postgraduate student of the Center for Nonproliferation Studies named after James Martin Kheyry D.S., KAIST master’s student Pirnavskaya K., adviser on international cooperation to the director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research Suleimanov I.T. also spoke.

All participants of the webinar in their speeches confirmed the importance of the role of experts and academia involved in various formats of cooperation to prevent the spread of WMD and create effective measures against the spread of nuclear weapons.
