Popular science lecture "DNA of ancient people, mycobacteria and genetic mutations"

On February 23, 2023, a member of the Youth branch of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, Head of the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Laboratory at the National Center for Biotechnology Pavel Tarlykov was invited by the news agency El.kz to give a popular science lecture in the format of a podcast (video broadcast in the studio) called “Qyzyq Science”. The main purpose of this podcast is to popularize science among the population and especially among young people.

During the seminar, issues of studying tuberculosis, the emergence of antibiotic resistance to drugs, as well as the genetic diversity of bacteria that cause tuberculosis were discussed. In addition, the application of the mass spectrometry method in biology and medicine was discussed, as well as the emergence of a new scientific direction known as “proteomics”. During the video broadcast, various interesting facts and discoveries was mentioned.
