Congratulations on the Anniversary! Professor Saule Aukenovna Zhakisheva Celebrates Her 70th Birthday

 

On June 12, 2026, Professor Saule Aukenovna Zhakisheva, a member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan under the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences (KazNANS), Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, celebrates her 70th anniversary.

Professor S.A. Zhakisheva is one of the founders of Kazakhstan’s interdisciplinary historical science and historical education. She is a distinguished scholar, educator, and researcher specializing in the history of Kazakhstan during the Soviet period.

Within her scientific activities, Professor Zhakisheva conducts research aimed at developing and applying modern methodologies and techniques for historical studies of Kazakhstan. Her work includes methodological issues of quantitative history, historical informatics, and source studies of mass historical sources. She is the author of more than 270 scientific publications published in Kazakhstan and abroad.
Professor Zhakisheva is also one of the authors of the third section of Volume VI of the seven-volume academic edition “History of Kazakhstan: From Ancient Times to the Present Day.”

Professor S.A. Zhakisheva has been awarded the badge “Honorary Worker of Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and, in 2023, received a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Professor Zhakisheva actively participates in the activities of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, making a significant contribution to the promotion of the fundamental goals and ideals of the Pugwash Movement of Scientists.
