The Secretariat of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan reports that from 27 to 30 July 2026, a meeting of the leadership of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) and representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) was held at the NNC RK, during which the current progress of joint activities and prospects for further international cooperation were discussed.

The delegation was received by Professor Erlan Gadletovich Batyrbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan – Director General of the NNC RK, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with his colleagues.
As part of the visit, technical meetings were held dedicated to the implementation of the joint project “Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Competencies in Radioactive Waste Management.”

The experience and infrastructure of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, accumulated on the territory of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site, make the enterprise a key platform for the development and implementation of modern solutions in the field of radioactive waste management.
Following the visit, the parties confirmed their interest in the further development of cooperation and the continuation of joint work on the implementation of the project.
The meeting was attended by 18 people.
