The Secretariat of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan under KazNANS reports that on 12-15 July 2026, a conference was held in Astana on the topic: “Scientific and Methodological Activities of Sabyr Kassymov – Head of the Project Office, Head of the Subcommission on Methodology of the State Commission for the Full Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions in Kazakhstan in the 1920s-1950s.”
The conference was attended by an invited participant – a member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan under KazNANS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Saule Zhakisheva, who delivered a report entitled: “A New Methodology for Studying and Assessing the Processes of Mass Confiscation (Expropriation), Forced Collectivization, Sedentarization, as well as Coercive Grain, Meat and Livestock Procurement in Kazakhstan.”
About 70 people took part in the event.
