Congratulations to Professor Mansurov Z.A. on His 80th Birthday!

On 26 June 2026, Professor Zukhair Aimukhametovich Mansurov turns 80. He is Professor of the Department of Chemical Physics and Materials Science at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Scientific Supervisor of the Institute of Combustion Problems, and a member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan under KazNANS.

Professor Z.A. Mansurov is a recognized scientist in the field of chemical physics of combustion processes, nanotechnology, nanostructured carbon materials, as well as fundamental and applied research in related areas of modern science.

A significant part of Professor Z.A. Mansurov’s scientific activity is devoted to the study of advanced energy materials, including alternative types of nuclear fuel and the potential of thorium as a safe and environmentally cleaner source of energy. These studies are of particular relevance in the context of nuclear energy development, energy security, and the long-term technological sovereignty of Kazakhstan.

The scientific achievements of Professor Z.A. Mansurov have been recognized with high state and international awards. He is a laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology, a laureate of the K.I. Satpayev Prize, and a laureate of the Altyn Adam Award in the nomination “Scientist of the Year.” He has been awarded the orders “Qurmet” and “Parasat”, as well as the UNESCO Medal “For Contribution to the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.”

Of particular value is Professor Z.A. Mansurov’s contribution to the training of scientific personnel. Under his supervision, Doctors of Science, Candidates of Science, and PhD holders have been trained, and today they continue their scientific and educational activities in Kazakhstan and abroad. Zukhair Aimukhametovich actively participates in the work of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, contributing to the promotion of the goals and ideas of the Pugwash Movement of Scientists.
