On April 10, 2026, the distinguished scientist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Irina Lashkarovna Tazhibayeva, laureate of the 2023 al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology, celebrates her 75th birthday.

Your many years in science and your unwavering service to the national atomic industry command deep respect. As a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, and one of the laureates of the 2023 named after al-Farabi State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Science and Technology, you have made a substantial contribution to the development of nuclear safety, controlled thermonuclear fusion technologies, radiation materials science, and other advanced scientific fields of strategic importance to Kazakhstan.
Your contribution to the development of controlled thermonuclear fusion technologies in Kazakhstan deserves special recognition. Your name is associated with important research in the field of fusion materials science, including studies of promising plasma-facing materials for fusion reactors. Of particular significance is also your participation in the creation, scientific and methodological support, and development of the Kazakhstan Materials Testing Tokamak KTM – a unique scientific complex that opens up new opportunities for research in plasma physics, materials testing, and the expansion of Kazakhstan’s international cooperation in the field of fusion energy.
For many years, your work has been connected with solving highly complex scientific and applied problems. In responsible leadership and expert positions, you have not only successfully implemented major projects, but also contributed to the formation of scientific schools, the development of research infrastructure, and the strengthening of the authority of Kazakhstani science.
I would especially like to note your active scientific and public position. Your participation in the activities of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan promotes the ideas of international security, nuclear non-proliferation, and the responsible use of atomic energy, while also strengthening professional dialogue and mutual understanding among scientists and experts from different countries.
