State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology named after al-Farabi in 2023 was awarded

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan a group of scientists of RSE NNC RK headed by Professor Erlan Batyrbekov (member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan) was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology named after Al-Farabi 2023 for the work “World-class research and development for the creation of nuclear power industry and implementation of the Strategy for achieving carbon neutrality of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

Among the authors of the project are scientists:

  • Vityuk Vladimir Anatolievich – Deputy Director General of RSE NNC RK, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD);
  • Baklanov Viktor Vladimirovich – First Deputy Director of the branch “Institute of Atomic Energy” of RSE NNC RK, Candidate of Technical Sciences;
  • Zarva Denis Borisovich – Deputy Chief Engineer of RSE NNC RK, Candidate of Technical Sciences;
  • Koyanbayev Yerbolat Taitoleuovich – Deputy Director for Materials Science Testing of branch “Institute of Atomic Energy” of the RSE NNC RK;
  • Skakov Mazhyn Kanapinovich – Chief Researcher of the RSE NNC RK, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences;
  • Chektybaev Baurzhan Zhambulovich - Head of Thermonuclear Research Department of the branch “Institute of Atomic Energy” of RSE NNC RK, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD),

as well as the only woman member of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan –

  • Tazhibayeva Irina Lashkarovna – Chief Researcher of the branch “Institute of Atomic Energy” of the RSE NNC RK, Chairman of the Board of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor.

 

The paper presents the results of research and development aimed at developing and improving the safety of nuclear power, as well as the development of controlled thermonuclear fusion technologies, which provided advanced positions of Kazakhstani science in these high-tech areas, and formed the basis for the creation of the country’s nuclear energy industry.

Thanks to the work of Kazakhstani scientists, new scientific knowledge and competences have been obtained. The results of the work have been widely recognized at the national and international levels.
