37 YEARS SINCE THE TRAGEDY AT THE CHERNOBYL NPP

26.04.2023
The PCK`s Secretariat informs:

That 26.04.2023 marks 37 years since the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, in connection with which the Khabar24 news channel released a report with the participation of the Director General of the RSE INP, a member of the PCK, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sakhiev S.K. and Deputy Chief Engineer of RSE NNC RK Zarva D.B.

Sakhiev S.K. answered questions related to the safety of nuclear power plants, and shared his opinion on the prospects for the development of nuclear energy, noting that all nuclear power plants are built on the fact that nuclei break up into fragments, and energy is released at the same time. For comparison, nuclear and chemical energy, when the same gas burns, is a plasma, but a chemical reaction. The difference in them is 10 million times. That is, from 1 ton of uranium, you can get the energy of burning 10 million tons of coal.

Zarva D.B. drew attention to the fact that nuclear energy and renewable energy are 2 independent areas of the same energy industry. They serve to solve their specific problems. That is, it is probably impossible and wrong to say which of them is more profitable. Both directions will allow us to achieve carbon neutrality.
